Did McCain Plagiarize?

Reports are that McCain plagiarized his speech on the crisis happening in Georgia.

I will let you, the reader, judge for yourself.

Example:

one of the first countries in the world to adopt Christianity as an official religion (Wikipedia)

vs.

one of the world’s first nations to adopt Christianity as an official religion (McCain)

If that is the case, then where does this place him in the political race? Do we really want a president that quotes from Wikipedia?

Now of course I use Wikipedia, but that’s only for quick reference that otherwise might not pop up on Google. But if I were running for POTUS than I believe I’d have to save Wikipedia for my own personal entertainment purposes.

Surely this guy can come up with his own words and not copy something that can be quickly Googled for attribution.

UPDATE: The McCains seem to be notorious for plagiarizing, Cindy McCain plagiarized some recipes from the Food Network, found here.

Wow. Here is the recipe that Cindy McCain plagiarized from the Food Network.

  1. OK, McCain said the words but I’d feel very safe in saying this, he didn’t write those words, his speech writers did…

Given that, I’d have to say no, McCain didn’t, not directly, his writers on the other hand…

  2. Point well taken, fire the speech writers.

Look back, and you’ll see that Obama’s writer’s plagiarized the “Yes We Can” speech from another guy’s writers, who took it from another’s (was discussed on meet the press, I believe in January or February)

There are other examples, though, from a quick Google search:

See also: “yes we can” and “Mario Cuzo”

But plagiarism, in either case, seems a bit much — with McCain, he’s saying words that no one questions the accuracy of (albeit similar to wikipedia), but he has long experience with Georgia (went waterskiing with their leader, actually, and has talked with him multiple times), and has no need to plagiarize. That’s not a real question for the commander in chief. Besides, if you want to say (as many do) that McCain doesn’t use the internet, you can hardly say that he plagiarized from a Web site.

Obama and the Mass. Governor area friends and share ideas. That’s fine, and I won’t call it stealing (they talked about it ahead of time, and Obama has his blessing to use a particular part of the Duval campaign strategy).

So in either case, I think the plagiarism charge is not a real issue.

When you never had a plan. When you voted with Bush 95% of the time.
When your campaign is hollow on facts and full of ugly untruths and your known as Mc Smear, who instills fear. When you vote against benefits for the military benefits and equal pay for women. When you flip flop and act erratically on major issues. When MIA survivors BEG you to open their loved ones files and you don’t have enough respect for fellow dead comrades to do so. When you pretend you know the plight of Americans struggling to live pay day-to-pay day. When you chose a running mate for your self-gain without your country in mind….Would anything stand in his way? What’s a little plagiarism amongst us? One can play the blame game, but bottom line is he should be in control of his final speeches and campaign. He, obviously, isn’t. So, how could he take charge of the White House? Rely on Sarah? Scary thought for Halloween.
